[0020] figure 1 Shown here is a texturing machine 1 consisting of two texturing rolls 2.1 and 2.2 and a stuffer box 4. FIG. The stuffer box 4 is defined on the periphery by side panels 8 and 9 , a bottom panel 5 , and a cover panel 6 . The base plate 5 is fixedly connected to the side plates 8 and 9 . The cover plate 6 is pivotable about a horizontal axis due to the capping force shown symbolically by the arrow. Arranged at the inlet of the stuffer box 4 are two texturing rollers 2.1 and 2.2, which can be driven in the direction of rotation indicated by the arrow by a motor, not shown. The end faces of the texturing rollers 2.1 and 2.2 extend until they abut against the side plates 8 and 9. The axes of the texturing rollers 2.1 and 2.2 are arranged horizontally and with a distance parallel to each other, so that a narrow texturing gap 3 is created between the texturing rollers 2.1 and 2.2, through which the tow to be treated consisting of a monofilament sliver passes. It i...

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for crimping a tow made of synthetic filament strands. The friction is very high between the side plates of a crimper to be used for this purpose and said filament strands, in particular adjacent to a crimper gap that occurs between two crimper rollers. This causes a very high level of wear to the side plates and a large temperature increase in the adjacent filament strands. According to the invention, a rotation body is therefore arranged adjacent to the crimper gap inside a recess of the the side plate. The friction between the side plate and the filament strands is significantly reduced by the rotation of said rotation body. In this way, the wear of the side plate and the temperature increase of adjacent filament strands are significantly reduced. A crimper of this type is preferably for use in a system for producing staple fibres, in which a tow that has been crimped by the crimper is subsequently cut to form the staple fibres.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a device for crimping a tow according to the preamble of claim 1 . Background technique [0002] Such devices are used in particular in the production of staple / staple fibres. Before cutting the tow from a plurality of individual synthetic monofilament strands into the staple fibers, the tow is texturized by means of a texturing machine. A sliver of monofilaments is formed by extruding a polymer melt from a spinning nozzle, a plurality of slivers of monofilaments forming a tow. Prior to texturing, such tows are subjected to various treatments, such as stretching, heat, and / or relaxation. In some cases, after being extruded, the tow is first laid in cans and is only further processed in a second process step and finally cut into the desired staple fibers. The texturing machine itself consists of a pair of texturing rollers lying opposite each other, wherein the tow is fed into the stuffer box through the texturing gap formed ...
