Abstract

The invention provides a device and a method for measuring a gravitational acceleration. The device comprises a base, a bracket, a swinging wire, a swinging ball, a laser device, a light receiver and a processing terminal. The bracket is arranged on the base. One end of the swinging wire is connected with the swinging ball, and the other end is arranged on the bracket. The laser device and the light receiver are oppositely arranged. The swinging ball is arranged between the laser device and the light receiver. According to the method of the invention, through changing the swinging length of a single pendulum, changing lengths deltaL of a plurality of sets of swinging lengths and a swinging length changing period T are recorded. Furthermore the values of a plurality of sets of variables 4pideltaL and variables T2 are respectively obtained. Then linear fitting is performed on the values of the variables 4pideltaL and the variable T2. The value of the gravitational acceleration is calculated through the gradient of a fitted line. The device and the method can improve measurement precision in measuring the gravitational acceleration by means of the single pendulum in physical experiment testing of a senior middle school or university and keeps the measurement error in a small range, wherein the measurement error is about 0.05% commonly.
