Abstract

The invention provides a resonant converter and a control method therefor. The resonant converter comprises a resonant conversion circuit, a load detector, a control signal generator and a pulse frequency modulation signal generator, wherein the resonant conversion circuit is used for converting input voltage according to a pulse frequency modulation signal to generate output voltage to drive load; and the load detector detects the load condition of the load; the control signal generator is used for generating a control signal according to the load condition and a pulse frequency modulation range; and when the load condition is a light load condition, a control signal area is divided into a plurality of first time intervals and a plurality of second time intervals, the first time intervalsand the second time intervals are arranged in a staggered manner, and the pulse frequency modulation signal is kept at reference voltage in the second time intervals and is essentially equivalent toa periodic signal of a resonant frequency in the first time intervals. According to the resonant converter, the power conversion efficiency under the light load condition can be effectively improved.
