Abstract

The invention discloses an FPGA-based face recognition system and relates to the field of face recognition. The system comprises an external device FPGA plate and a processing data FPGA plate. Face acquisition images are stored in an SRAM through an SRAM port. The SRAM port is used for storing a processed face image structure into a connected SDRAM. An LCD PIO is connected with an LCD display. A key PIO is connected with a key. By use of a NiosII processor, a user customizes a soft core processor according to own standards. An image face preprocessing module is used for processing images transmitted by the external device FPGA plate. According to the invention, through use of two serially connected FPGA chips, one FPGA is connected with an external device and the other FPGA is used for processing data; the software description language Verilog HDL is used for carrying out designing and circuit achieving on an image preprocessing algorithm; all functions are systematically integrated together, so processing speed is improved; and the system is advantaged by simple structure, small size and low power consumption.
