The method is applied to a video display system. The video display system comprises the video forwarding device, a video stream obtaining device and a user terminal. The method comprises the steps that the video forwarding device receives a real-time video stream sent by the video stream obtaining device, wherein the video stream obtaining device is the device which is locally connected with the video forwarding device and is used for obtaining the real-time video stream; and the video forwarding device sends the real-time video stream to the user terminal in a preset video forwarding mode, so the user terminal displays the real-time videostream, wherein the user terminal and the video forwarding device access the same network. When the video forwarding device receives the real-time video stream sent by the video stream obtaining device locally connected with the video forwarding device, the video forwarding device instantly forwards the real-time video stream to the user terminal. A transmission path of the real-time video streamis reduced, so the delay of obtaining and displaying the real-time video stream by the user terminal is reduced.
