Abstract

The invention provides a proton transfer reaction mass spectrometer and a detection method thereof. An ion source is used to ionize initial reactant gas which accesses the ion source to initial reactant ions. The initial reactant ions collide with molecules of a to-be-tested sample in a drift tube and a proton transfer reaction occurs to generate to-be-tested sample ions. A rectangular ion trap isused to capture the to-be-tested sample ions which enter the rectangular ion trap, and make the captured to-be-tested sample ions resonate and be expelled according to mass-to-charge ratio. An ion detector is used to detect the to-be-tested sample ions which are expelled by the rectangular ion trap, to obtain a mass spectrum of the to-be-tested sample ions. Since an electrode on the front end ofthe rectangular ion trap can be used together with an electrode on the tail end of the drift tube. The rectangular ion trap can be directly connected with the drift tube, so that an intermediate ion transfer step is not needed, ion loss in a transmission process is reduced, instrument sensitivity is improved, and structure of the mass spectrometer is greatly simplified.
