According to the method, in actual application, unified identification information of a to-be-authenticated wireless terminal is acquired through AC equipment, and an authentication-free table entry is searched for in the AC equipment; if the unified identification information is found in the authentication-free table entry, corresponding authentication information is extracted; and an authentication state of the wireless terminal is set as post-auth, so that the wireless terminal is connected with the internet. According to the method, when a user is offline briefly and accesses a WLAN again, a RADIUS server is not required to read and write a database, so that the burden of the RADIUS server is relieved. An authentication-free function is implemented only on the AC equipment, so that both the AC equipment and the RADIUS server do not need to be subjected to support configuration, and a databaseserver do not need to be additionally added; and in addition, message interaction in a network is not added in the authentication state maintenance process, so that the network load can be reduced, and the authentication efficiency of the maintenance method can be improved.
