To provide a wet friction material that succeeds in reducing dragging torque through different means than in conventional practice, this wet friction material 1 has a plurality of friction parts 3 disposed in a ring shape at intervals from each other in a core plate 2 and a main surface 2a of the core plate 2, and a plurality of oil grooves 4 formed by being divided off by the friction parts 3. The friction parts are provided with left-side walls, right-side walls, outer peripheral walls, and inner peripheral walls in plan view, and include three types of friction parts, which are first through third friction parts having different forms of side wall pairs.
