Abstract

A compression release braking system is provided that includes an idle exhaust rocker arm assembly, an actuation piston, and a return device. The actuation piston includes an actuation piston body slidably received by the rocker arm to define a piston chamber in the rocker arm, and the actuation piston body is movable between piston retracted and extended positions. The actuation piston is configured to be operatively associated with the exhaust valve to allow unseating of the exhaust valve from the seated condition. The actuator piston check valve is configured to move between a closed position and an open position to allow hydraulic fluid to flow to the piston chamber through the actuator piston communication port. The reset device includes a reset check valve and a reset pressure control spring, and the reset pressure control spring is used to apply a bias force to the reset check valve to push the reset check valve to an open position.
