Abstract

The invention discloses an ear cap with a negative Poisson's ratio effect and a design method thereof. The ear cap comprises an ear cap surface with the negative Poisson's ratio effect and an ear caproot; the surface of each ear cap is in a round cover shape, and the root of each ear cap is cylindrical. The ear cap surface and the ear cap root are of a tubular structure with holes which are periodically, transversely and vertically alternated. According to the invention, the key of generating the negative Poisson's ratio effect is the design of negative Poisson's hole structures on the surface and the root of the ear cap. Under the condition that 3D printing manufacturing requirement is met, the ear cap guarantees that the hole-shaped structures which are alternated transversely and vertically are small enough, the surface and the root of the ear cap have the negative Poisson's ratio effect, and therefore, the whole ear cap has the negative Poisson's ratio effect. The ear cap designedby the method has an obvious negative Poisson's ratio effect, and the negative Poisson's ratio performance can be maintained in a large strain range. In addition, the designed negative Poisson's ratio ear cap not only can show negative Poisson's ratio performance under axial tensile compression, but also can show negative Poisson's ratio performance under bending action.
