The method comprises the steps of building a daily gas production rate database of the double U-type well; according to the magnitude of the peak daily gas production rate of the double U-type well, sequentially determining the double U-type well as a first kind of well or a second kind of well or a third kind of well, and analyzing the sudden drop condition of the gas production rate; for the first kind of well or the second kind of well with the gas production rate suddenlydropped, if a horizontal branch adopts a slotted screen for well completion, carrying out well washing on the horizontal branch, and if the horizontal branch does not adopt the slotted screen for wellcompletion, adding and drilling a horizontal branch to be in abut joint with a vertical production well; and for the third kind of well, according to geological conditions, adding and drilling the horizontal branch to be in abut joint with the vertical production well.
