The invention relates to an authority updating method and device of a version management system, and the authority updating method of the version management system comprises the steps: generating a first version number of an authority updating command when the authority updating command of the version management system is received, wherein the authority updating command is used for requesting to update an authority configuration file of the version management system; executing an operation of locking a lock file, the lock file being used for maintaining a version number of the permission updating command; if the lock file is successfully locked, reading a second version number of the permission updating command stored in the lock file; if the second version number is smaller than the firstversion number, writing the first version number into the lock file to replace the second version number, reading an account identifier recorded in an authority file stored in each directory of the version management system, and in the authority configuration file, updating the account identifier with the control permission of each directory into the account identifier read from the permission file under the directory.
