The monitoring method comprises the following steps: calculating oxygen storage amount of each driving cycle; judging effectiveness of the oxygen storage amount; judging conversion efficiency of the three-way catalyst according to the effectiveness of the oxygen storage amount; and judging that the three-way catalyst has faults if the conversion efficiency is lower than preset conversion efficiency. According to the monitoring method for the three-way catalyst conversion efficiency provided in the embodiments of the invention, in a vehicle operation process, the oxygen storage mount in each driving cycle is calculated, and conversion efficiency of the three-way catalyst within the current driving cycle is judged according to the oxygen storage amount. Effectiveness further needs to be judged for the oxygen storage amount within each driving cycle, so that accuracy of oxygen storage amount calculating results is improved, and thus, judgment robustness for the conversion efficiency of the three-way catalyst is further improved; and compared with the prior art, the distinguishing degree of a normal three-way catalyst and a bad three-way catalyst is improved.
