Abstract

A thermoplastic composition comprising: 25 to 95 weight percent of a poly (etherimide); 5 to 70 weight percent of a polymer different from the poly (etherimide), the polymer being partially miscible with the poly (etherimide); and 1 to 15 weight percent of a mineral filler having an average particle size of 0.1 to 10 microns; wherein the weight percentages are based on the total weight of the composition. The thermoplastic composition may be prepared by melt mixing components of the composition. Articles comprising the composition are also described.

Background technique [0003] Polyetherimide ("PEI") is an amorphous, transparent, high performance polymer with a glass transition temperature ("Tg") greater than 180°C. PEI further has high strength, heat resistance, and modulus as well as broad chemical resistance, and thus is widely used in various applications such as automobiles, telecommunication, aerospace, electrical / electronics, transportation, and healthcare.
