[0050] 1 kg of fresh plant material and water were charged together in a 1:2 ratio in a 5 liter round bottom flask. This flask is connected to a Clevenger type apparatus and the whole system is heated on a heated metal. After a few minutes the contents begin to boil, and the resulting vapor is condensed through the condenser of a Clevenger-type apparatus. The condensed distillate is collected into a graduated cylinder, and this process lasts for 3 hours. The essential oil is separated from the upper distillate due to the difference in its density, which is because oil is lighter than water, and the amount of oil is measured.

The invention also relates to a method of extracting the essential oil from such a plant source. Background of the invention [0002] The genus name Dracocephalum Linn is derived from the Greek words Drakon (meaning dragon) and Kephale (meaning head), which is related to the shape of the head of this flower.
