Embodiment Construction

[0021] Disclosed herein is an improved corrugated polymer zigzag sheet for use in greenhouse roof structure sheets, which sheet can also be incorporated into double wall roof elements. More particularly, the improved sheets of embodiments of the present invention feature a flat portion that allows for easier attachment of the sheet assembly to a supporting structure, such as stringers (ie, horizontal roof beams) of a greenhouse. Each sheet may be made of a light transmissive material, such as polycarbonate material or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) material. A particularly suitable example includes General Electric's polycarbonate Lexan  .

[0022] First refer to figure 1 and 2 , shows a cross-sectional view of a corrugated polymer zigzag sheet 100 suitable for use in a greenhouse roof structure according to an embodiment of the present invention. The profile of the sheet 100 is characterized by a series of triangular vertices or serrations 102 spaced apart by flat portio...

Abstract

A sheet structure (200, 300) includes a pair of corrugated sheets formed in a zigzag pattern, the pair comprising an upper sheet (202, 218, 302) and a lower sheet (204, 220, 310). In an exemplary embodiment, each of the pair of corrugated sheets further includes a flat portion disposed at selected intervals between individual zigzags (102). The flat portions (104, 308) of the upper sheet (202, 218, 302) are aligned with corresponding flat portions (104, 308) of the lower sheet (204, 220, 310) so as to maintain the upper and lower sheets (202, 204, 218, 220, 302, 310) in a double wall configuration.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to an extruded sheet structure and, more particularly, to a corrugated polymer zigzag sheet suitable for furnishing in a greenhouse roof structure. Background technique [0002] Conventional greenhouses are mostly covered by a single layer of glass having a thickness of about 4 millimeters (mm) or more. The glass roof structure provides high rigidity and high light transmittance, which are important for the growing process of various agricultural and horticultural crops in the greenhouse. A disadvantage of using glass as a roofing material for a greenhouse is that it is heavy and generally requires specialized equipment / apparatus during its installation. Furthermore, breakage can occur during installation and from exposure to the elements (eg wind, snow loads and hailstorms). Accordingly, certain conventional greenhouse roof structures have been equipped with multiple layers of glass or polymer products as gre...
