Embodiment 1

[0089] Prepare a mixture using the following components:

[0090] -1m 3 sludge (dredging material)

[0091] -150kg binder (CEM III / B 42, 5, conform NEN-EN)

[0092] -4kg binder retarder (Addiment HM / VT TM (Supplier: Sica / Addiment)

[0093] Mixing for 5 minutes resulted in a substrate grout that remained liquid for at least 48 hours.

[0094] After mixing with 85 kg of water glass (32%), a hardening curve as shown in Figure 1 was obtained:

[0095] Figure 1 is a typical hardening profile where the mixture remains liquid for a relatively short period of time after the addition of the initiator and then begins to solidify a few seconds to 30 minutes after the addition.

[0096] The plastic phase (the material has a clay-like behavior) is preferably set between 15 minutes and 3 days. The set time depends on the type of binder, and the amount of binder, retarder and initiator.

Embodiment 2

[0098] Examine the effect of several types of fiber materials. Mixtures with the following components:

[0099] -1m 3 sludge (dredging material)

[0100] -200kg binder (CEM III / B42, 5, conform NEN-EN)

[0101] -4kg binder retarder (Addiment HM / VT TM (Supplier: Sica / Addiment)

[0102] -50kg fiber material (hay or sawdust)

[0103] Mix for 5 minutes. Then add 0.5m 3 of foam.

[0104] Another mixture was prepared which included all components except the fibers.

Abstract

The invention relates to a fluid construction mixture comprising a sludge or tailing material (such as a dredged material), a binder, a binder retarding agent, optionally one or more other ingredients. The invention further relates to a method for preparing a solid construction material and to the use of construction material in infrastructural projects.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to construction materials based on sludge or tailings materials such as dredged materials. Background technique [0002] Drains and ports require frequent dredging to keep them open. Materials dredged from water are generally considered waste. Traditionally said materials are discharged without any further use. [0003] Due to increased ecological awareness in recent years, there has been an increased interest in processing dredged material so that it can be used profitably. [0004] WO 02 / 074391 describes a method of treating dredged material in which the dredged material is mixed with a lime-based binder at high temperature. The addition conditions of the lime-based binder lead to a reduction in the moisture content and volume of the original dredged material. After cooling, a chelating agent is added, resulting in decontamination and solidification of the dredged material. The solid material is reported to be suita...
