Problems solved by technology

[0009] A ventilation device of the type described in US Patent No. 3,486,436 has a complex structure, but involves a relatively labor-intensive procedure, not only assembling its parts but also mounting it to the cabin roof
[0010] Furthermore, ventilators of the type described in US Pat. No. 3,486,436, although effective in circulating air in automobiles, are suitable for installation in large compartments such as trucks, etc., but due to their bulky construction, especially in vertical direction, cannot be installed in a small car with a relatively small compartment
Furthermore the large size of the units also meant that they could only be fitted close to the windscreen, which in turn meant that poor ventilation remained in the rear of the cabin

Embodiment Construction

[0027] Referring to the drawings, numeral 1 designates a motor vehicle ventilation device whose compact size makes it particularly suitable for installation in a car 2 or the like (Figs. 7a-7c), that is to say in a vehicle with a relatively small cabin.

[0028] The device 1 comprises a housing 3, or housing, with a plurality of annular fastening protrusions 4 making it easy to attach to the roof of the compartment of a vehicle 2 (Fig. 7a). More specifically, the protrusion 4 is designed to be connected to the roof of the carriage by means of not shown screws or similar fastening elements.

[0029] The housing 3 contains an axial fan 5 comprising an electric motor 6 and blades 7 rotatably driven by the electric motor 6 about a central axis 8 .

[0030] The housing 3 delimits a closed chamber 9 equipped with circular air inlet openings 10, in the embodiment shown three circular air outlet openings 11 for conveying air through the outlet openings or openings 11 to the vehicle co...

Abstract

Described is a motor vehicle ventilating device equipped with a housing (3), fastening elements (4) for attaching the housing (3) to the roof of the cabin of a motor vehicle (2) and a fan (5) positioned in the housing (3); the housing (3) defines a closed chamber (9) equipped with an air inlet opening (10) and at least one air outlet opening (11) for delivering to the vehicle cabin through the outlet opening (11) the air that is drawn into the housing (3) by the fan (5) through the inlet opening (10); the housing (3) is defined by two half-shells (12, 13) joined to each other in airtight manner, the first half-shell (12) being designed to be attached to the cabin roof and being equipped with a seat (18) for mounting the motor (6) of the fan (5) impeller (7), and the second half-shell (13) having the air inlet and outlet openings (10, 11) made in it; in an alternative embodiment, the motor (6) of the fan (5) impeller (7) is made in the second half-shell (13); the fan is of the axialflow type and the air outlet opening or openings (11) are positioned at the sides of the impeller (7) in respective radial directions of the impeller (7) itself.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a ventilation device for a motor vehicle, particularly suitable for installation in a car or the like, that is to say a vehicle with a compartment of relatively limited height. Background technique [0002] Automotive environmental control systems have undergone considerable technological advancement in recent years. [0003] In this specification the term "climate control system" is used to denote any system comprising air heating means and air cooling means, and which may include units for controlling and regulating both means in such a way as to produce optimum temperature conditions in the vehicle cabin. [0004] Early climate control systems, while effective in terms of air cooling and heating capabilities, were not entirely satisfactory because heated or cooled air was not circulated evenly within the cabin. In particular, the ventilation outlets are only located at or near the dashboard, which usually means that the hea...
