The rocker arm is coupled to push rods and valves for opening and closing the intake and exhaust valves of an engine cylinder. The rocker arm includes a push-rod plate and a valve plate each secured to opposite ends of a tubular member. The push rod socket end and the valve pad end are separated by the linear distance of the tubular member. The push-rod plate and valve pad plate may be formed using a rapid formation process, such as stamping.
