Transmissive key sheet, input keys using transmissive key sheet and electronic equipment with input keys

A transmissive key sheet using translucent resin, which is capable of effective illumination while ensuring the thinness of the entire key sheet as well as suppressing a decrease in light transmission, input keys using the transmissive key sheet, and electronic equipment with the input keys. A transmissive key sheet of input keys comprises a first key sheet unit and a second key sheet unit, the opposite side of the first key sheet unit from key tops and the opposite side of the second key sheet unit from pressure applicators being bonded together with a translucent adhesive. The key tops made of translucent resin are molded integral with a translucent resin film having letters on its under surface to provide the first key sheet unit. The pressure applicators made of translucent resin are molded integral with a translucent resin film to provide the second key sheet unit. The light from a light source on a substrate illuminates keys so that the letters printed on the under surface of the translucent resin film become visible form outside. The pressing of each key top presses a corresponding key switch through the pressure applicator, and the key switch is concavely curved to make a contact with an electrode on the substrate. Thus, key input is provided.

Multiple contact input device

The present invention relates to a multiple contact input device which makes it possible to use a single operation member in common for the purpose of controlling a coordinate signal and setting a point thereby preventing two switches from simultaneously operating. The device reduces the number of elements of the multiple contact input device. A base is provided with a first switch and four second switches at a periphery of the first switch, and an operation member is provided with a first pressing portion, second pressing members, and projections. When the operation member is swung longitudinally and laterally, the second pressing portions press the second switches. When the operation member is swung diagonally, each projection touches a receiving portion of the base, thereby preventing the second pressing portions from pressing the second switches. When the operation member is pushed, the first pressing portion presses the first switch.

Seamless faceplate assembly for keypad device

An assembly (20) for use in a keypad device (10) and a corresponding keypad device (10) are described. The assembly (20) comprises a seamless faceplate (30) with a plurality of key areas protruding outwardly from a surface (32) of the faceplate. The key areas are made of slightly deformable material. The assembly further comprises a plurality of switch elements (e.g., dome switches) (62), which at least partly correspond to the key areas. The switch elements are arranged to contact a corresponding contact point on a circuit arrangement (90) e.g. a PCB, as a result of force on the corresponding key area being applied by a user, wherein after the user stops applying the force, the key area returns to its original position, e.g. due to the corresponding dome switch returning to its original position.

Dome array for use with a switch

An array of domes is constructed from a single sheet of constructed material. For example, several domes can be stamped at a preset distribution within a sheet of metal. The domes can be placed at any suitable position along the surface of the material, including for example at positions defined by the locations of contact pads on a circuit board. The conductive material can be electrically coupled to the circuit board at any suitable location, including for example along an edge of the piece of material. In some embodiments, the sheet of material can extend around the side walls of the circuit board, for example bent around the periphery of the circuit board. The sheet of material can be electrically coupled to the bottom of the circuit board, for example by soldering. This approach may provide a water resistant dome switch, whereby water can be prevented from leaking between the dome and the circuit board.

Ingress protection for electrosurgical pencil switch

A method of assembling a surgical instrument includes coupling a power bus to a switch base that has a top, a bottom, and side surfaces; adhering a membrane to the top surface of the switch base over the power bus to form a switch base assembly; positioning the switch base assembly within a first portion of a switch base cavity defined by a lower housing portion; and joining the lower housing portion with an upper housing portion. The upper housing portion defines a second portion of the switch base cavity. Joining the lower housing portion with the upper housing portion disposes the switch base within the first portion of the switch base cavity and prevents fluid from penetrating a proximal portion of the switch base cavity within which an electrical lead is coupled to the power bus.
