Hybrid whistle

A hybrid whistle has two pealess whistle chambers with air vents to the left and right and a central pea whistle with an air vent facing generally perpendicularly to the left and right air vents that are integrally formed together, preferably in a two piece, top and bottom, construction. The hybrid whistle has a mouthpiece with a left air opening, a central air opening and a right air opening, each of which is connected to its respective whistle chamber by an air passageway. The three whistle chambers produce differing whistle pitch sounds as air flows through them and out the chambers' exits. The central pea whistle has a barrel chamber with a pea block formed within it so as to modify the barrel shape of the chamber and block the air flow as the pea circulates in the air current causing a staccato effect, while creating enough circulating air movement to prevent the pea from getting stuck in the vent by the air as it exits out of the central air exit when the whistle is blown. Game calling device

A game calling device capable of producing variable pitched sounds includes a truncated fan-shaped body having a mouthpiece end and a discharge end and multiple bores extending through the body from the mouthpiece end to the discharge end. First and second reed inserts are located in two of the bores and are tuned to produce high and low pitched sounds. A whistle insert is located in a third one of the bores for producing a whistling sound. A mouthpiece having three separate inlet openings is located at the mouthpiece end of the body and can be used to blow air through all three bores simultaneously or one at a time. The three bores extend through the body in a diverging configuration relative to each other from the mouthpiece end toward the discharge end. The reed inserts and whistle insert are held within the respective bores of the body by O-rings.

The resonant cavity is a compact circumferential acoustic resonator with a captured mass of air within a ring shaped cavity significantly reducing the overall size of the resonator, thereby permitting the audio output apparatus to fit within the housing of conventional size life safety devices such as, but not limited to, residential and commercial smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms. The compact resonator is an acoustic compliant cavity with internal passages transforming axial traveling sound waves to circumferentially traveling sound waves thereby yielding a very compact geometry.

Combination flexible drinking straw and whistle

Disclosed is a reusable combination corrugated drinking straw and whistle. The drinking straw has an elongated tubular body with a fluid passage running therethrough. The tubular body is manufactured from metal (e.g., stainless steel) and has a plurality of corrugations extending radially outward therefrom. The tubular body is flexible and adapted to be bent so as to enable a user of the corrugated drinking straw to sip a beverage from a cup or the like. The corrugated drinking straw can also be used to produce an audible whistling sound when it is removed from the cup. The whistling sound is achieved when the user blows his breath against a blowing end of the drinking straw that is cut through one of the corrugations that extends radially outward from the tubular body. A hand-held flinging device includes a launcher that engages the projectile and improves control of the launcher and projectile, during a throwing / flinging motion, until centrifugal force causes disengagement of the projectile from the launcher. The engagement system involves the rearward portions of a launcher shaft and the projectile bore, so that, upon disengagement, frictional engagement and interference of the engagement system with the projectile is prevented or limited as the projectile moves forward to fly off the launcher. The engagement system may include a member that snaps into engagement with a hole or recess to hold the projectile on the launcher even through the wind-up portion of the throw that may include the launcher distal end being pointed downward. The preferred projectile covers the entire or nearly the entire launcher shaft distal of the hand grip and is heavier toward its front end. Even though the launcher does not have a shaft or “stick” that is long relative to the projectile length, the flinging device gives enough mechanical advantage that a projectile that is large and heavy compared to conventional foam darts can be flung a long distance with accuracy and consistency.
