The present invention relates to a digital copyright management system based on digital watermarking and mobile agent, comprising six modules, i.e. a digital media server, a copyright owner, a digital work issuer, a consumer, a bill trade center and a mobile agent center. The present invention aims to realize the copyright protection to digital work lifecycle in open networks. The present invention utilizes the distribution and moving characteristics of mobile agent and directly detect digital watermarks on a detected remote host computer, and what is moved by mobile agent is a watermark detection program but not data, thereby the present invention overcomes the overload disadvantage that the prior server and greatly improves the efficiency of copyright protection and tracing.
