Problems solved by technology

People who have difficulty tightening the handle to the desired tightness may need tools to obtain the desired tightness
In either case, while these hubs provide a very tight connection, these types of hubs can be quite a bit heavier than some cyclists expect

[0073] Referring now to Figures 15-23, a bicycle wheel securing structure or axle 222 having a modified axle member 230 according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described. The wheel fixing shaft 222 of this second embodiment is the same as the wheel fixing shaft 22 of the first embodiment except for the shaft member 230 . Therefore, unless the shaft member 230 is involved, this second embodiment will not be discussed and / or illustrated in detail herein. However, unless otherwise stated and / or illustrated herein, it will be apparent to those skilled in the bicycle art from this disclosure that the descriptions and illustrations of the first embodiment also apply to this second embodiment. In addition, those skilled in the bicycle field can understand from this disclosure that the wheel fixed shaft 222 is used to replace the wheel fixed shaft 22 of the first embodiment, so as to use the unit including the main hub shaft 20, the hub assembly 24 and the fl...

[0077] see now Figure 24-25, a bicycle wheel fixing structure or axle 322 with a modified axle member according to a third embodiment of the present invention will be described. In this embodiment, the modified inner shaft 342 itself constitutes a modified shaft member. In other words, in the third embodiment, the outer shaft 40 of the first embodiment is removed, so that the shaft part of the wheel fixing structure 322 does not have the "double shaft" structure similar to the previous embodiment. Additionally, the main hub axle 20 of the previous embodiment is replaced with a conventional hub spindle 321 to accommodate an inner shaft (shaft member) 342 . The main hub axle 321 has a nut threaded on its outer surface to hold the main hub axle 321 together with the rest of the tubular hub structure in a conventional manner, and has a shaft adapted to receive an inner shaft (shaft member) 342 therethrough. the inside diameter of. Both ends of the main hub axle 321 protrude mor...

Abstract

A bicycle wheel securing structure includes a shaft member, a head member, and a lever member. The shaft member has a first end portion, a second end portion and a central portion disposed between the first and second end portions with a center axis extending between the first and second end portions. The head member is disposed on the second end portion of the shaft member. The lever member is operatively mounted to move the shaft member in an axial direction relative to the head member in response to movement of the lever member. The central portion of the shaft member has a radial thickness smaller than the first and second end portions.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a bicycle wheel fixing structure. More specifically, the present invention relates to a bicycle wheel securing structure that uses a shaft member having a region of reduced thickness. Background technique [0002] Cycling has become an increasingly common form of recreation and mode of transportation. Additionally, cycling has become a very popular competitive sport, both for amateurs and professional athletes. Whether the bicycle is used for recreation, transportation or competition, the bicycle manufacturing industry is constantly improving various components of the bicycle. One component that has been extensively redesigned is the bicycle hub linkage. [0003] Nut and bolt arrangements have been used in the past to connect various bicycle components. While certain components are designed to be permanently attached to the bicycle, other bicycle components such as bicycle wheels need to be loosened and re...
