Abstract
The invention discloses a device for detecting damage on an irregular pipe fitting by a water immersion transverse wave method and a damage detecting method thereof. The device consists of a probe moving component (1), an ultrasonic flaw detector (2), deionized water (3) and a water tank (5), wherein the probe moving component (1) is arranged at the top of the water tank (5) through four pulleys;the deionized water (3) is filled in the water tank (5); and a sensitive end of a point focusing probe (11) in the probe moving component (1) is placed in the deionized water (3) and is away from theirregular pipe fitting (4) for 10 to 20 millimeters. By adopting the water immersion transverse wave method, the point focusing probe (11) in the water tank (5) detects inward convex irregular pipe fittings and inward concave irregular pipe fittings. Through analyzing and discriminating signals, artificial defects with different depths and special step areas are distinguished and compared, and signal strength reduces along with reduction of the defect depth.
