Problems solved by technology

[0016] In the constant velocity universal joint described in Patent Document 2, the number of man-hours for machining the outer peripheral surface 220 of the opening end portion 218 of the outer ring 202 increases, and there is also a problem of material loss (material loss during material removal).
In addition, in the opening end 218 of the outer ring 202, since the portion where the fitting groove 241 is formed is formed thin, the strength of the opening end 218 of the outer ring 202 decreases.

Embodiment Construction

[0091] Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

[0092] Figure 1A ~ Figure 7 represents the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0093] Figure 7 A cage type constant velocity universal joint which is one of the fixed type constant velocity universal joints of the present invention is shown. This constant velocity universal joint 1 has an outer ring 2 as an outer joint member, an inner ring 3 as an inner joint member, balls 4 and a spacer 5 as main components, and is housed in the inner side of the outer ring 2. The inner ring 3, Ball 4 and spacer 5 constitute internal parts 6 .

[0094] The outer ring 2 has an opening at one end, and a plurality of curved track grooves 7 are formed on the inner spherical surface. The inner ring 3 forms a plurality of curved raceway grooves 8 on the outer spherical surface, and the shaft 9 is spline-fitted in the central hole 48 thereof, and the circlip 10 is used to stop it fro...

Abstract

A constant velocity universal joint where a boot achieves improved sealing ability with the strength of an outer ring sufficiently maintained and where axial positioning of an end of the boot is facilitated. Sharp pointed projection sections (28, 41) having a triangular cross section are arranged on the inner peripheral surfaces (31, 47) of a large-diameter end section (12) and a small-diameter end section (13) of the boot (11). Further, two annular seal sections (30) are placed on the inner peripheral surfaces (31) of the large-diameter end section (12) so as to lie on both sides of and equally spaced from the projection section (28), and likewise two annular seal sections (45) are placed on the inner peripheral surfaces (47) of the small-diameter end section (13) so as to lie on both sides of and equally spaced from the projection section (41). The projection sections (28, 41) and the seal sections (30, 45) are arranged within the axial width of boot bands (15, 16) fitted in band fitting grooves (33, 46) formed in the outer peripheral surfaces of the large-diameter end section (12) and the small-diameter end section (13). The radial lengths of the seal sections (30, 45) are set to be less than the radial lengths of the projection sections (28, 41).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a constant velocity universal joint used for drive shafts of automobiles or various industrial machines to transmit rotational torque. Background technique [0002] Constant velocity universal joints are broadly classified into fixed type constant velocity universal joints and sliding type constant velocity universal joints. Fixed type constant velocity universal joints allow only angular displacement, and are mainly used on the wheel side of drive shafts of automobiles, etc. On the other hand, the sliding constant velocity universal joint allows angular displacement and axial displacement (insertion), and is mainly used on the differential gear side of the drive shaft of an automobile. [0003] Such a constant velocity universal joint is provided with a cover in order to prevent the leakage of the lubricating component sealed inside the joint to the outside and to prevent the intrusion of foreign matter from the outsi...
