Embodiment approach

[0056] Furthermore, the platform 12 is not limited to the circular platform described above. Generally speaking, this platform can be any supporting structure, or a combination of supporting structures, which is enough to mechanically link the optical instruments such as the reflector at the rear end and the projection screen 11 to the motor. In one embodiment, the platform 12 includes a series of radially elongated arms to accommodate rear mounted optics to transmit light from the projection lens to the projection screen while allowing the arms to be simple and lightweight. In general, the motor can be any motor that can be connected to the rear optics and projection screen 11 to rotate the optics such as the rear mirror and projection screen 11 at the described ratio. In some embodiments, for example, the platform is connected by a belt or gear to a motor positioned away from the axis of rotation.

Abstract

The invention provides a system and a method for a true three-dimensional high-performance computer. The system comprises a master controller, a group of parallel processor modules, communication between modules, a two-dimensional display driver, a sensor array, a three-dimensional space mouse, a group of projectors, and an electric rotating screen. The master controller is connected with the module group through a network and carries out system programming and data transmission; each module consists of a main processor, an array processor, a boundary processor, a storage, two-dimensional sensor interface peripherals, and the like; high-speed communication is performed between the modules; each module performs computation and display drive in a two-dimensional space respectively; the module group forms three-dimensional space computation; the spatial position of a true three-dimensional display is indicated by operating the three-dimensional space mouse; the projectors control the exposure time and synchronous rotation of the rotating screen through a distributed pulsed light source; the module group and the projectors are fixed along the periphery of the rotating screen to form a cylindrical coordinate system in turn; and the two-dimensional images generated by each module and each projector at each angle are synthesized into real three-dimensional dynamic images finally. The system and the method are mainly applied to three-dimensional spaces such as particle systems, finite elements, earth system simulation, aerodynamics and fluid mechanics simulation, and medicinal radiofluoroscopic image and graph processing.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to the field of three-dimensional (3D) displays. More specifically, the present invention relates to a system and method for real 3D (Real3D) display based on a multi-projector rotating screen, where Real 3D is also called volumetric 3D (Volumetric3D). Applications suitable for true 3D display systems include: particle system calculation and display in graphics processing, finite element calculation and display, physical simulation and display of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics, meteorological analysis, earth system simulation and display, space simulation and display , tomographic image processing (CT or MR) and display in medical imaging, molecular dynamics simulation and display, air traffic control and display and other fields. Background technique [0002] At present, there are three main three-dimensional (3D) display technologies: Stereo3D, Volumetric3D, and Holographic3D. [0003] Holographic display t...
