The invention discloses a bitter gourd extract composition for synergistically reducing blood sugar and preventing hyperglycemia. The bitter gourd extract composition consists of bitter gourd saponin and bitter gourd polysaccharide, wherein the mass ratio of the bitter gourd saponin to the bitter gourd polysaccharide is 1-2:1-2. The bitter gourd extract composition has an obvious effect of reducing the blood sugar. Animal experiments prove that the bitter gourd extract composition can synergistically reduce the blood sugar of hyperglycemia animals and can prevent normal animals from the hyperglycemia, wherein the blood sugar-reducing effect of the composition is more obvious than that of a single bitter gourd extract ingredient such as the bitter gourd polysaccharide or the bitter gourd saponin; and the composition has no toxic effect on the animals when taken for a long time. In vivo experiments define a partial synergistic blood sugar-reducing mechanism of the composition.
