The invention relates to an adaptive service composition method based on variability, comprising the following steps of: establishing a variability managing frame which faces to service composition; developing a variability constructor to support the definition and the expression of different types of variability; introducing a variability definition into a service composition specification explanation in a design step; and supporting explanation execution of the service composition specification explanation with the variability definition in a running time. The invention treats a variability factor as a first-kind design object in the service composition, is beneficial to increasing the suitability of the service composition and has significance for the development and the maintenance of a realized service process based on the service composition under an Internet environment; otherwise, the invention makes up the insufficiency of supporting flexible service composition by the traditional composition language of Business Process Execution Languages (BPEL) and a support platform.
