Abstract
The invention discloses a method for expanding modular multilevel converter based high voltage direct current (MMC-HVDC) model simulation scale under a real time digital simulator (RTDS) in the technical field of power system multilevel distribution simulation. The method comprises the following steps of: simulating three phase bridge arms of a modular multilevel converter (MMC) by six multi-bridge series modules of the RTDS; placing two multi-bridge series modules which simulates an in-phase bridge arm of the MMC in the same small step-length module; connecting the direct current sides of the three phase bridge arms, positioned in different small step-length modules, of the MMC by using a small step-length circuit model in the RTDS; establishing an alternating current system in the RTDS; connecting the rectifier side and the inverter side of the MMC by utilizing the small step-length circuit model; and respectively performing simulation computation on the rectifier side and the inverter side of the MMC by utilizing two computing communication units in the RTDS. By using the method, the problem of limited simulation scale of the MMC-HVDC under the RTDS is solved.
