The screw pump is operated under the drive of a motor and comprises a motor driving unit, a motor rotation speed detecting unit and a controlling unit, wherein the motor driving unit is used for outputting torque to the motor; the motor rotation speed detecting unit is used for detecting the rotation speed of the motor in real time; and the controlling unit is used for setting the output torque of the motor driving unit to be a minimum value when a shutdown command is received and the rotation speed of the motor is decreased to a first threshold value, as well as regulating the output torque of the motor driving unit to increase the output torque along with the increase of the reverse rotation speed and decrease the output torque along with the decrease of the reverse rotation speed when the motor is dragged by a screw rod to rotate reversely and has the rotation speed reaching a second threshold value. The invention further provides a corresponding shutdown braking method of the screw pump. According to the invention, the braking of the screw pump is realized through controlling the output torque, so that the system cost is obviously reduced, meanwhile, the reliability of the braking is increased.
