Problems solved by technology

However, Tedlar and other fluoropolymers are expensive and will also present a major recycling problem in the future when the number of solar modules reaching the end of their life will skyrocket, as they can neither be easily recycled nor be environmentally friendly. Requirements for processing (e.g. burning)

[0079] Measurement methods

[0080] Standard Viscosity (SV)

[0081] Standard viscosity SV - based on DIN 53726 - by measuring the relative viscosity η of a 1% by weight solution in dichloroacetic acid (DCE) at 25°C in an Ubbelohde viscometer rel. while measuring. The dimensionless SV value is determined by the relative viscosity η as follows rel. Sure:

[0082] SV=(η rel. -1) 1000

[0083] For this purpose, the film or polymer raw material is dissolved in DCE and, if appropriate, particles present are separated by centrifugation before the measurement. The particle content was determined by ash determination and corrected by the corresponding excess weighed in. This means that the amount weighed in = (amount weighed in according to the instructions) / ((100-particle content in %) / 100).

[0084] Shrinkage

[0085] The heat shrinkage was measured using a square film sample with a side length of 10 cm. The specimen is cut such that one side is parallel to the machine d...

Abstract

The invention relates to a biaxially oriented film, predominantly formed from a polyester whose diol component includes at least 35 mol-% of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) and additionally contains at least one further diol different from CHDM. The dicarboxylic acid component of the polyester includes at least 80 mol-% of one or more benzenedicarboxylic acid(s) and / or one or more naphthalene dicarboxylic acid(s). The dicarboxylic acid component of the polyester includes a main dicarboxylic acid component forming an at least 55 mol-% portion of the dicarboxylic acid component, chosen from 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid or terephthalic acid. The dicarboxylic acid component further includes a secondary dicarboxylic acid component, present in an amount of at least 5 mol-% of the dicarboxylic acid component, with the secondary dicarboxylic acid component differing from the main dicarboxylic acid component. The invention further relates to a method for producing the film and its use.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a biaxially oriented film made of polyester, the thickness of which preferably lies in the range of 12 to 600 μm. The film consists essentially of polyester, and the diol component comprises cyclohexanedimethanol and at least one other diol. A substantial (majority) proportion of the dicarboxylic acid component consists of phthalic or naphthalene dicarboxylic acids, but at least 5 mol % of the dicarboxylic acid component consists of dicarboxylic acids other than the predominantly used phthalic or naphthalene dicarboxylic acids constitute. These films are characterized by their good manufacturability, very good resistance to hydrolysis and good electrical insulating properties. The invention further relates to a method for preparing said film. Background technique [0002] Biaxially oriented films made of polyesters in this thickness range are well known. [0003] In electrical insulation applications, such as cables...
