Embodiment Construction

[0036] The mobile terminal referred to in the present invention covers any portable or handheld mobile device that can communicate with other devices through one or more wireless protocols or standards, such as but not limited to mobile phones, smart phones, personal digital assistants ( PDA), portable computer, portable GPS terminal, etc.

[0037] figure 1 An exploded view of a portion of the mobile terminal 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention is shown. As shown in the figure, the mobile terminal 10 in this embodiment includes a front panel 103 , a printed circuit board (PCB) 102 , a conductive back cover 101 , a non-conductive housing 104 , and an independent built-in antenna 105 . For example and without limitation, a battery may be at least partially disposed between the back cover 101 and the printed circuit board 102 .

[0038] A planar radiation unit is integrated on the rear cover 101 as a part of the antenna assembly. In some examples, the entir...

Abstract

The invention relates to an antenna assembly for a mobile terminal and the mobile terminal using the antenna assembly. The basic idea of the invention is that a conductive shell of the mobile terminal is used as a radiating element of an antenna system of the mobile terminal to be utilized. One embodiment of the invention provides the antenna assembly for the mobile terminal (20). The antenna assembly is characterized by comprising the radiating element (206) which is integrated with a cover body of the mobile terminal and is made of a conductive material. The radiating element comprises at least one antenna port (261 and 262) formed in the radiating element. When the cover body is fastened to the mobile terminal, the antenna ports can excite the radiating element to work in multiple frequency bands. According to the design, the number of independent antennas in the current mobile terminal can be reduced, so that the miniaturization of the mobile terminal can be realized further.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an antenna technology, in particular to an antenna assembly for a mobile terminal. Background technique [0002] While its appearance is increasingly miniaturized and ultra-thin, the functions of mobile terminals are also becoming more and more complex, and it needs to meet multiple communication protocols and standards at the same time. On the one hand, these trends make the space occupied by antenna elements in mobile terminals smaller and smaller. On the other hand, the performance of antennas that only occupy a limited space is continuously put forward higher requirements, that is, antenna systems are required to operate in more frequency bands, Maintain high-performance working conditions over a wider frequency band. As a frequency-dependent component, the antenna's radiation performance is proportional to the size of the space it occupies. The small space will limit the radiation performance of the antenna, maki...
