Speckle is caused by the interference of light scattered by structures in different positions in the object, such as the scattering of light by nuclei or organelles in tissues. The size of the speckle depends on the horizontal and vertical resolution of the OCT system. In general, OCT cannot distinguish structures beyond the resolution of the system, which can be defined as microstructures. Since the formation of speckle comes from the change of microstructure, speckle contains all the information of microstructure. The present invention can obtain the microstructure information even exceeding the resolution of the system through the speckle statistical analysis of the OCT image.
