Abstract

The invention provides a device and a method for communicating through a universal serial bus (USB) interface and charging an external device. By the aid of the device and the method, the problem that in an existing technology, the USB interface cannot be used for communicating is solved, and the quick charging is achieved. A current detecting circuit is respectively connected with a management module, a current source and the USB interface. According to current output of the current source, a first detection signal is output, the management module outputs a second control signal, a first control signal is delayed to output in accordance with the first detection signal, and a shift switch which is connected with the management module is used for short-circuiting two USB data lines of the USB interface in accordance with the second control signal and for disconnecting two short-circuited USB data lines of the USB interface in accordance with the first control signal. After being inserted, a device to be charged is controlled by the management module, two short-circuited USB data lines are disconnected in delay, the device to be charged selects an adaptor of a large current mode to be charged quickly, and the communication is achieved through the USB data lines.
