The economic optimization design method includes steps of firstly, analyzing whether functions of river reaches meet requirements or not for current river sections according to data of sectional structures of the various river reaches, and determining the river reaches required to be regulated and sectional regulation patterns of the river reaches; secondly, determining decision variables according to the sectional regulation patterns, determining constraint conditions according to a plan and standards, and building an economic optimization mathematical model for river sectional regulation; and thirdly, performing analog computation for the mathematical model by an optimization algorithm and acquiring preferred values of the decision variables. A river regulation gain is used as an objective function of the mathematical model. The economic optimization design method has the advantages that the mathematical model coupled to various regulation objects in terms of hydraulic power, landscape, ecology and the like is built, the optimal decision variable values are acquired via the analog computation by the aid of a computer, accordingly, the regulation gain is maximized, and the economic optimization design method is suitable for planning and designing river regulation for urban landscape.
