Abstract

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a configuration for a guide wire port of a catheter and a technique for improving a production method therefor. The present invention provides a rapid exchange catheter that is guided by a guide wire (G). The catheter is provided with: a catheter shaft (12) having a distal end and a proximal end; and an inner tube (14) in which a lumen for inserting the guide wire (G) is formed, and which attaches to the catheter shaft (12). A guide wire (G) port, which is an opening for inserting the guide wire (G), opens to the outside of the catheter shaft (12), and is formed on the catheter shaft (12) at a position nearer to the distal end than the proximal end. The proximal end of the lumen of the inner tube (14) is characterized by being linked to the guide wire (G) port inside the catheter shaft (12).
