The encoding device of the present invention, when encoding a group of frame images showing views over time from each of a plurality of viewpoints, encodes a group of frame images from a standard viewpoint as base-view video stream data without using frame images from other viewpoints as reference images. Furthermore, the present invention encodes a group of frame images from a first-type viewpoint in a positional relationship in which at least one other viewpoint from among a plurality of viewpoints is inserted with respect to the standard viewpoint among the plurality of viewpoints, as first dependent-view video stream data using frame images simultaneous with the base-view video stream data or another first dependent-view video stream data as a reference image.
