The method comprises the steps that firstly, an upper limit value of smoke intensity control, an upper smoke intensity limit control area, a lower smoke intensity limit control area, a limit of a higher transient rate and a limit of a lower transient rate are determined according to the development requirement, wherein the upper limit value of the smoke intensity is larger than an upper limit value of the smoke intensity control area, and the upper limit value of the smoke intensity control area is larger than a lower limit value of the smoke intensity control area; in the initial period of transient of the internal combustion engine, due to the lower smoke intensity value, the larger EGR rate can be adopted to correspond to a larger gear of an EGR valve; along with the development of the transient process, the smoke intensity begins to be increased, and when the upper limit value of the smoke intensity is reached, the smoke intensity is decreased along with the reduction of the gear of the EGR valve until the EGR valve is completely closed; in the latter half period of the transient process, the smoke intensity begins to be decreased from the peak to be lower than the lower smoke intensity limit control area, and at the moment, when it is ensured that the smoke intensity does not exceed the upper smoke intensity limit control area, the gear of the EGR valve is enlarged step by step so as to achieve the aim of optimizing NOx emission.
