Abstract

A manufacture method of a friction wedge of a rail car comprises at least one mold cavity formed in an upper sand mold part and a lower sand mold part of a mold. The mold cavity defines at least some exterior characteristics of at least one friction wedge. At least one mold core adjacent to the mold cavity is inserted into the lower sand mold. The mold core comprises at least one surface configured to define a column surface of the friction wedge. A rigging is formed in the upper sand mold part and the lower sand mold part of the mold. The rigging includes a lower mold opening, at least one inner injection opening and at least one flow passage for guiding molten substance to the mold cavity. The molten substance is poured into the mold to form a friction wedge cast. The friction wedge cast is removed from the mold. The rigging is removed from the friction wedge cast and the friction wedge cast is refined and finished.

Background technique [0002] A rail vehicle typically consists of a single motorized railcar that rests on a pair of wheel frame assemblies. The wheel frame assembly consists of a pair of side frames and a wheel set, which are connected together by a bolster and a damping system.
