The method includes the steps that transparent data of a wireless network transmission platform serve as protocol signatures on a transmitting terminal and the protocol signatures serve as pilot frequency information and are evenly distributed in data packages to be sent; the pilot frequency information in the received data is extracted on a receiving terminal and channel estimation calibration is conducted according to the pilot frequency information in the received data; by the adoption of the OFDM technology, optimal rates are selected for all calibrated channels in a frequency domain and fed back to the transmitting terminal. According to the wireless network rate adaptive adjusting method, under the condition that extra control information is not increased, adaptive rate adjustment is achieved, the rapid change of a time domain and the depth declination of the frequency domain of the channels are effectively confronted, noise influences are reduced, the channel estimation accuracy and the channel matching quality are greatly improved, the transmission rate is greatly increased, the more proper rates are selected from the frequency domain for transmission, and therefore the system throughput capacity is increased.
