The germination force, germination rate, vigor index and hypocotyledonary axis length of a material at low temperature are determined, and then the cold tolerance in the germination period of momordica charantia is identified and evaluated through principal component analysis in combination with cluster analysis. Because multiple indexes closely related to the germination period are adopted at the same time, the essential tolerance of momordica charantia can be truly reflected when tolerance evaluation is performed on a large quantity of materials through the method; because the principal component analysis is adopted in combination with cluster analysis for scientific comprehensive evaluation, identification accuracy and reliability are improved, and the method is suitable for identification and evaluation of the cold tolerance of different momordica charantia resources in the germination period and beneficial for accelerating breeding of cold-tolerant momordica charantia varieties.
