Embodiment Construction

[0025] Exemplary embodiments will be described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0026] The present technology relates to ventilation of grain storage facilities and methods and systems for controlling said ventilation. Ventilation of grain storage equipment is very important to maintain proper moisture levels to store grain safely for extended periods of time.

[0027] As used herein, grain storage equipment refers to any large container used for bulk storage of items, such as grain, typically used on farms and / or in commercial agricultural applications. The grain or feed bin storage device may be any suitable housing for grain or feed storage. It usually includes side walls and a top. This type of silo has a roughly circular structure and includes a raised floor to create an air chamber beneath the grain or feed. The floor can be perforated so that air can pass from the air chamber through the floor and grain to remove moisture from the g...

Abstract

This application relates to moisture-balanced drying of grain using heaters and variable speed fans. A grain drying system and process including a controller electrically coupled to a variable speed fan and electrically coupled to a heater or heat pump to supply air through an air chamber and through the grain. The controller is also coupled to an ambient temperature sensor and an ambient humidity sensor, a temperature and humidity sensor inside the plenum. During a first period when the ambient air is outside of the equilibrium moisture target, fan speed is adjusted in conjunction with operating the heater or heat pump to deliver a target equilibrium moisture temperature. During a second period when the ambient air is outside the range of the balanced moisture target, the controller causes the fan to operate at a minimum speed and due to operation of the fan and the heater or heat pump limit, the controller cannot obtain the balanced moisture target air in the air chamber.

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This disclosure claims priority to US Provisional Application No. 62 / 010229, filed June 10, 2014. The entire content of the above application is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to processes, systems and apparatus for grain drying using balanced moisture air. Background technique [0004] The background information provided in this section regarding the present disclosure is not necessarily prior art. [0005] The grain in the silo can be ventilated or partially dried or conditioned in the silo. This can be achieved by using the principle of balancing moisture. If grain is exposed to air at a certain temperature and relative humidity (RH) for a sufficient period of time, the temperature and relative humidity of the air will equilibrate with the corresponding grain moisture content. For different grain balance moisture value is different. figure 1 A table of ...
