The method comprises the steps of carrying out the field survey to establish a tree obstacle hidden trouble identification reference system in combination with provisions on the safe operation of overhead transmission lines all over a whole network; for any tree with a hidden trouble, selecting a corresponding tree height growth prediction model to calculate the minimum clearance distance of the tree based no the natural growth rules of the tree; in combination with the tree obstacle hidden trouble identification reference system, constructing a tree hidden trouble prediction model for the transmission line passage way to realize the automatic identification of tree obstacle hidden troubles. The above method is used for guiding a line operating department to formulate state inspecting and hidden trouble eliminating strategies for tree obstacles around the overhead transmission line.
