[0064] Figure 9 Represents the satisfaction of the equation y=mx -(1-n) Figure 180 of the rheological skin-bond viscosity-dependent shear rate-dependent properties. like Figure 9 As shown, the viscosity of the skin binder as a function of shear rate can be expressed as a power law 180 . Therefore, the relationship between stress and shear rate can be written (in cylindrical coordinates) as shown in equation (1).

[0065]

[0066] Among them, τ rz is the shear stress, V z is the velocity in the z direction and is a function of the radial position (r), m and n are two rheological constants called the consistency factor and the power law exponent, respectively. These values were obtained by matching experimental data. For the cuticle binding agent used, m=355.15 and n=0.228 were obtained. A value of n<1 means that the fluid is shear thinning. The proposed method for designing headers can be applied to any shear-thinning behavior of suspended fluids.

Abstract

A skinning device (100) and method of skinning a porous ceramic (110). The device includes an axially skinned header (108). The axially skinned header (108) includes a curved adaptable tube (128) for bonding agent in a circumferential direction (C) from an inlet at a first location and through an adaption along an arcuate inner bend. The opening (136) flows through the land channel (140) arranged along the inner elbow. The land channel (140) emits bonding agent at a constant velocity from a land opening (142) extending from proximate to a first location to a second location spaced from the first location. The land outlet (142) emits bonding agent at a constant velocity around the exterior of the porous ceramic (110) to dispose a uniform skin on the porous ceramic (110) as it moves axially relative to the land outlet (142) .
