Abstract

The invention discloses a method for removing an oxide film on the inner wall of a piston ring. According to the method, carborundum or quartz sand with a particle size of 9 to 70 meshes is employed for abrasive blasting of the inner wall of the piston ring under the conditions of an air pressure of 0.3 to 1.2 MPa, abrasive blasting distance of 15 to 23 cm and abrasive blasting time of 2 to 25 min so as to remove the oxide film with a thickness of 0.5 to 4 mm on the inner wall of the piston ring. As the procedure of removal of the oxide film on the inner wall of the piston ring is additionally carried out before heat treatment, the inner circular sidewall and the outer circular sidewall of the piston ring are adequately treated at the same time, so distribution of contact pressure of the piston ring is improved, and the problem of unbalanced residual stress caused by one-side nitriding and carburizing of the outer circular sidewall of the piston ring is overcome; and thus, two distortions consisting of necking-down and light leakage after heat treatment of the piston ring are substantially overcome, the precision of the piston ring is guaranteed, and the rejection rate of piston rings after heat treatment is obviously reduced. The method for removing the oxide film on the inner wall of the piston ring is simple in procedure, does not need precise equipment and can be implemented by ordinary workers.
