Abstract

The invention provides an animal rumination monitoring method and device. The device comprises a processor and stretchable resistor chains. The stretchable resistor chains are connected end to end to form a closed ring, and the processor is electrically connected with the stretchable resistor chains. The stretchable resistor chains are used for stretching with opening and closing of the mouth root portion of an animal to produce resistance change data representing the opening and closing degree of the mouth root portion, and the processor is used for obtaining the number of resistors connected in the resistor chains based on resistance change quantity data when receiving the resistance change quantity data, comparing a value of the number of the connected resistors with a preset number value, obtaining a current time value when the value of the number of the connected resistors is greater than or equal to the preset number value, calculating a shewing period based on at least two continuous time values, comparing the shewing period with a preset reference period and determining that the animal is in a rumination state if the shewing period is greater than the preset reference period. The device is simple in structure and can monitor whether animals are in the rumination state or not.
