The large spherical air bearing lapping device comprises a rotary table, an adapting piece, a bearing rope, a shaft system, a tension sensor, a driver and a controller, wherein a ball socket for mounting a spherical air bearing is fixed on the rotary table; the adapting piece is fixedly connected to a top plane of a to-be-ground floating ball, and handles are arranged at two ends of the adapting piece; one end of the bearing rope is connected to the adapting piece while the other end is connected to the tension sensor and the driver through the shaft system; the tension sensor is connected to the controller for collecting instantaneous tension information on the bearing rope in real time and sending the information to the controller; the controller is connected to the driver for controlling the bearing rope to stretch through the driver according to the instantaneous tension information sent by the tension sensor, so that the tension on the bearing rope is changed according to a predetermined rule.
