According to the method, an active infrared lighting camera is utilized to acquire a nighttime image; after the nighttime image is preprocessed, a human body feature template is utilized to extract out candidate regions; and a method according to which a histogram of oriented gradient (HOG) is adopted as a feature to be extracted, and a liner support vector machine (liner SVM) is adopted as a classifier, is utilized to realize nighttime human body detection.
