The quick locating and navigating method comprises the following steps of establishing a site vector map; storing all scene photos in a database, and making the scene photos corresponding to the position information of the map; obtaining a scene photo by a handheld device; matching the scene photo with the photos in the database by adopting an ssift algorithm; listing out all matched photos, selecting the photo corresponding to an own position by a user; obtaining the position information, and carrying out subsequent treatment. The method can be applicable to the quick location and navigation of the large indoor venue.
