Abstract

The invention relates to a portable electronic device. The portable electronic device includes: a housing that is configured to be held by one hand of a human being; a holding detection unit that detects holding of the housing by the one hand; an input operation detection unit that detects an input operation; and a control section that outputs a control signal based on detection results of the holding detection unit and the input operation detection unit. The control section validates the input operation detection unit if the holding of the housing is detected by the holding detection unit, and after the validation, outputs a control signal based on a detection result of the input operation detection unit regardless of the detection result of the holding detection unit.
